This project became the model for a bronze monument, erected in 2002, at the centre of a cemetery for all religious communities near Koblenz. Symbolising the passage to the afterlife, it is the ecumenical version of the old shrines in Christian cemeteries.
Technically the work is a blend of four cross-section bars, quarter turn twisted, and held together at right angles so as to produce the effect of a continuous movement. This movement spreads out within the rectangle via a play of light on the polished metal, like the Mobius strip in the circle.
