Germanic origin
The box of this lock is covered with a copper plate engraved with foliage patterns featuring naively carved angels; in one hand they hold a chalice surrounded by a crown of leaves and in the other, the head of a winged cherub! They are supported by foliage tumbling above another angel’s head. The rear features the same décor of foliage and cherubs’ heads.
