This rack is the oldest in the collection. It was used to hang the game, meat or ham that was smoked in the chimney. It has suffered a great deal but the motifs with which it is adorned testify to its great age: a border of clover, openwork uprights with Gothic networks, in addition to traditional lilies. You may remember that one version of the Roman de Renard, depicts the fox escaping its pursuers by entering the castle and hanging from such a rack.
