Candelabra of the Coopers’ Guild

Date : 1780

Germany

This object had a dual purpose: it clearly indicates the Guild to which it belonged, and in this sense, it serves as a sign. But its threaded base indicates that it once stood on a pedestal on a piece of furniture. It originally had three candlesticks of which only the central branch survives and was also therefore a lighting instrument, mounted on a base.
