Wedding trammel and cooking pot

LS 4274

Date : 1758

Eastern France

This massive trammel, topped with chevrons and decorated with a round flower and a lily, ends laterally in a ram's horn, which denotes an origin in Germany or the neighbouring region. The associated pot with its lid and steam hole was clearly offered as a wedding gift but only the husband's name appears here, and even that is somewhat indistinct. It is also adorned with lilies, two small cherubs, small animals and round flowers.
